Academic & Global Pedigree

Raised in a family of architects, Shroff pursued a highly distinguished global education before returning to India to establish his practice:

  • Education: Received his Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) from Cornell University (2006) and his Master of Architecture (M.Arch) from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design (2011).

  • Apprenticeships: Prior to launching his own studio, he honed his design sensibilities working at some of the world’s most prestigious avant-garde practices, including Zaha Hadid Architects in London and Rem Koolhaas's OMA/REX in New York.

Core Philosophy: The Revival of the Handmade

The defining cornerstone of Shroff's work is the contemporary evolution of Indian artisanry. Rather than viewing traditional craft merely as surface ornamentation, he treats it as a structural and design language.

His studio dedicates significant time to Research & Development (R&D), experimenting with centuries-old techniques to push the boundaries of what materials can do. He collaborates closely with specialized master artisans across India:

  • Jaipur: For intricate marble carving.

  • New Delhi: For master-level woodwork.

  • Lucknow & Mumbai: For hand-embroidery, which he famously applies to unexpected mediums like wooden furniture.

Notable Projects & Collaborations

Shroff’s portfolio is incredibly diverse, ranging from retail spaces to cultural exhibitions:

  • Nilaya Anthology (Mumbai, 2025): A landmark, design-forward retail destination and design gallery spanning 100,000 square feet, engineered to emulate the flowing layout of a museum rather than a linear shopping center.

  • "India in Fashion" Exhibit (2023): Co-designed the blockbuster, highly acclaimed fashion exhibition at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) alongside Patrick Kinmonth, celebrating the global influence of Indian textiles and artisans.

  • Hermès Window Displays: Commissioned exclusively for over seven years to design the whimsical, artistic window installations for the French luxury house’s boutiques in Mumbai and Delhi.

  • Bespoke Furniture Lines: Creator of the famous C-Series (featuring hand-embroidered wooden chairs, screens, and panels) and the Makrana Marble Bulbs—exquisitely hand-carved solid marble bulbs that let light filter organically through the stone's natural veins.
