https://tectonagrandis.com Tectona Grandis (operating primarily as Tectona Grandis Furniture) is a highly acclaimed boutique furniture design studio and manufacturer based in Ahmedabad, India.

Founded in 2014 by Dhruvkant Amin—a furniture design alumnus of the prestigious National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad—and co-managed by fellow designer Jalpa Amin, the studio has carved out a distinct identity in India's contemporary luxury interior ecosystem. The firm takes its name from the scientific classification of the teak tree (Tectona grandis), cementing its core devotion to a single, timeless material.

Core Philosophy & Material Mastery

  • The Reclaimed Wood Ethos: The foundational soul of Tectona Grandis is sustainability through reclaimed teakwood. The studio source centuries-old wood from demolished heritage structures, historic mansions, and old rafters. This timber, having already weathered decades of varying atmospheric extremes, offers a structural density and rich patina that young, fresh-cut wood cannot match.

  • Simplified Sophistication: Heavily influenced by clean-lined minimalism and Mid-Century Modern geometries, the studio shuns ornate, traditional carvings. Instead, they let the natural imperfections, knots, and complex grains of the aged teak act as the primary visual detail.

  • Eco-Conscious Finishing: True to its zero-compromise environmental approach, the studio entirely bypasses harsh chemical sealants. All furniture pieces are treated with organic, eco-friendly coatings and oils that preserve the raw, tactile texture of the wood underfoot and hand.
